I told the inspector (from Tribal) that I had got too bogged down with the SEF and took the executive decision not to finish it, but that I've filled in the sections that I've found important or helpful for myself. I asked whether I should send it to her as I've done it online. Her response - 'oh well it's probably too late now for me to read it so just print it out and I'll try to look at it when I get there'. Thank God I didn't bother filing the whole thing in then really!!!

I asked her if she'd like me to put all my daily diaries onto a USB as I do everything on PC and email them over - she said it'd be useless as she doesn't bring a computer - this is going to be one S.L.O.W inspection if she's writing everything by hand surely??! [hsad]

I'm bitching of course just because I'm horribly nervous as this is my first inspection and as usual everything is in dissary (sp), so please ignore me! [hsad]

I though all inspectors brought their laptop nowadays

you poor thing, you'll be a guinea pig for the new system

good luck

HSMM · 26/10/2010 07:31

My inspector had to look at some stuff on my laptop. She was fine with that. Good luck.

lollipopmother · 26/10/2010 08:53

Yes HSMM I think that I will have to get a laptop set up for her to look at, I don't fancy printing out months and months of diaries just for her to look at a couple.

I was rather hoping that I'd get the same lady that gave me my initial registration inspection as I've been looking at her reports and I know what she likes, but as you say Lady, it's the new system now so I don't know how long this lady has been doing inspections in this area.

If we are 'recommended' to fill in the SEF, surely they least they can do is have the courtesy to read it????

It took me days to do mine last year - wont be updating it if the muppets being brought in to do inspections now cant be arsed to read it Hmm!!

My inspector - who worked for Ofsted - didnt know the Welfare Requirements and had to refer to her 'book'.

Wont be worrying about next one - due in 16mth and 3wks..... Grin

Good luck - you will be fine!

I am a SEF refusnik, It is just a waste of time, we have enough paperwork to do without repeating ourselves over and over again.

And half the CM's I was at a meeting with recently dont even know what the SEF is!

thebody · 26/10/2010 22:00

dont do and wont do sef... actually called my early years team for some child development stuff which my dh had helpfully thrown away and was told that eyfs for cms under review ,as was sef, at the moment so couldnt send me anything interesting i think.!!!!.has anyone else heard anything???

my sister who is a head teacher also says sef under review for early years...

i would rather give up than trawl through that shite tbh.. daily diaries, obs, planning and assessmensts enuff for me..

with u ladies..just spent hour doing obs and planning for 3 month old... seriously what can you say. she needs cuddles, she eats, she poops she sleeps.... wine needed...

lollipopmother · 26/10/2010 22:53

Tell me about it TheBody, it's not much better for my new mindee who's 10m/o and comes once a week, it'll take months for me to know what he really likes doing and I've just been through a very tedious 6 months with another mindee who's just turned 1y/o, yes she enjoys herself and I know she has started showing the odd schema in the last few months but there really isn't that much to say for someone that young I think.

I do completely understand why obs/planning is done for my older mindee who's coming up to 23m tho, it's excellent looking through all his obs/planning/art work, the progression is there easy as anything to see - so worth it!!
