How much to pay babysittter if looking after 4 children?

Hi

We are going out tomorrow to a wedding evening do. Everyone we know will be there including close family so I have had to find a babysitter.

The one I have found, through reputable connections, is a TA, NVQ level 3 trained, very experienced etc. She will be looking after my two children and my two nephews. They are staying at our house. She will be arriving at 6.30 so will have to put the children to bed.

The going rate around here seems to be about £6 - £7 an hour. Do you think we should pay her more than that as she will have 4 children to look after and have to put them to bed? I was thinking £10 an hour.

Thanks

I'm sure she'd appreciate more! What has she said her rates are?

Even if she's fine with the going rate I would still be inclined to pay more whilst the children are awake and she's putting them to bed.

and as 2 of the children dont live there they can be more of a handfull

and really both sets of parents should be paying

If it is two sets of parents, I would expect to be paid more.

i charge time and a half if two familys, im normally £10 so £15

have you asked her what her rate is,as i charge more than the going rate so if i were the girl i would be saying what i wanted so surprised she has agreed to 4 children/2 familys and not stated her rate iyswim

but yes if average pay is 6/7 then would have thought £10 fair

have fun at the wedding :0
