Does anyone know Wellington Nannies?

Hi,

I am considering booking a Maternity nurse through an agency for our No.2 as well as a nanny for No.1 and later for No.2 when I return to work. I have found Wellington Nannies on the internet and had a look at their website. www.wellingtonnannies.co.uk

I couldn't find a lot of information about the agency. I like their website though and the fees are not too expensive.

Can anyone tell me something about the agency or give me a recommendation?

Never heard of them, but their site looks good. I wonder how long they've been around?

Are you in London? There may be other agencies local to you with reasonable fees who can provide local candidates.

Agencies covering nationwide I'd recommend for nannies - Imperial, Eden and Nannies Inc, and the last 2 for maternity as well. Imperial have a maternity branch but the name escapes me at the moment!

Will you recruit independently as well?

Hi,

thanks. I phoned them a few days ago. The lady started the agency in January after having worked as a nanny herself. What I really liked is that every nanny the agency places comes with Nannyinsurance for one year (paid by the agency)

I haven't heard too many good things about Imperial and Eden.

Nanny insurance paid by the agency? Hmm Nannies have to pay the premium for their own cover or it risks invalidating the insurance. I would be wary of so eons who thinks that's okay unless they have written proof from the insurers they accept the agency paying to cover the nanny.

Imperial and Eden have always been fab for me, but then I'm a nanny! I think boffinmum on here used Eden when she had the never ending nanny saga and is happy with hers. They do take tine to place nannies, but they get it right mist if the time and if they don't Imperial got me put if a hellish position, had a temp in to start on the Monday and revised to job spec drastically to take into account the feedback the parents and I gave.

Tax info on their website seems rather dated. WHOIS gives domain reg date which is quite recent.

Can you explain more about the insurance the agency offers - bit odd for an agency to offer insurance products.

Have you namechanged?

Cologne · 05/10/2010 07:46

Okay. I didn't know that. I give Imperial Nannies a try and Eden, can I register with two agencies at the same time?

Oh absolutely. Nothing to stop you registering with every agency in London. You might have to pay a registration fee to some agencies so they're sure you're not some weird Nigerian scammer who wants a bunch of nanny's details but they're usually not too steep.

Eden get a lot of business because they don't charge a registration fee to anyone. Nannies Inc don't charge within the UK either.

You don't need to use an agency at all. Lots of advice on here about self recruitment, which could save you £800+ in agency fees.

Have a look at www.NannyJob.co.uk and www.Childcare.co.uk (often an advert for that one appears on Mumsnet while reading this section, so click the advert).

I think you'd get on well with the lady who runs the agency - she is from Cologne and your username is Cologne! What a coincidence, it must be fate!!!

Cologne · 05/10/2010 08:52

Hi,
Yes I am German and from Cologne. The agency is advertised on a forum for Germans living in the UK.
I have put an ad on Gumtree before but got over 250 CV's on the first day.

We used Deearnas she was lovely and well on the ball, her agency is run by retired maternity nurses so they really understood what we really wanted
