hi im a childminder and i have a zafira im finding it very hard to find a double pram that folds up small enough to go in our tiny boot when all the 7 seats are up,

so far iv tried CENTURY double MACLAREN TrIUMPH and am not lookin into a second hand ZOOPER,but still unsure if thats goin to fit, :(

would be very grateful if you could share any experiences that use have had with double prams and Zafiras with all the seats up? and which double prams worked for you?

its so hard to find one that can fit in the tiny space,

much appreicated i look forward to hearing back from use asap Please :)

I have resorted to taking the wheels off my nipper, I then manhandle nipper behind the middle row of seats and use a stretchy cord hooked round end headrests to hold in place, the wheels then go in the so called boot space, not ideal but it works, I also have a tesco own very basic double stroller that does just fit in behind the very back seats. I hate my zafira for the lack of space.

|I can fit my Phil & Teds in my Zafira but I have to take the wheels off. I also think it depends on the model of Zafira as I don't think older ones fit the P&T in. (mine is a 2004 one). I have a friend who has a Baby Jogger city mini twin (compact side by side buggy) which fits in her Zafira but again wheels have to come off

givemesomecandy · 29/09/2010 17:38

I used to be able to fit a double Malaren in my Zafira boot with all seats upWas a squish but it fitted!
What about putting it on the floor across the middle row instead? (depending on whether there are hildren or adults in the middle row obviously!

thanks for your comments :) ill bear them in mind,
was really looking for just a basic double for when toddlers have fallen asleep at school run time and for shopping trips so would like to get something as cheap as possible, i like the mamu (mama and papas make) single one if that was a double it folds down tiny and very light so would be ideal

its a 53 reg we have and i too hate it for the tiny boot space and space in general in the car,

lok forward to hearing any more ideas thanks again:)

The graco side by side one fits, you have to put it on its side and you need one of the models with the slightly smaller wheels.

cgi.ebay.co.uk/GRACO-DUOSPORT-DUO-SPORT-TWIN-DOUBLE-PUSHCHAIR-BUGGY-/110589880623?pt=UK_Baby_BabyTravel_Pushchairs_GL&hash=item19bfaba92f

They are actually a light pushchair with a huge basket and recline flat!

Best to buy one locally to check to see if that particular model fits in your particular zafira IYSWIM

onadietcokebreak · 29/09/2010 20:44

Can I just say that I really wouldnt recommend putting the pushchair anywhere other than the boot. A unsecured object like that is lethal in the event of an accident as it becomes 40 times its original weight.

I was actually coming on to recommend a baby jogger city mini double- keep an eye on ebay.

hennipenni · 29/09/2010 21:34

Baby jogger city mini double won't fit in my Zafira boot even with the back wheels removed. (53 plate)

Shoshe · 29/09/2010 21:49

Another one who had the garco with a Zafira, eventually got rid of the zafira tho, baby seats just dont fit on the back seats and had to undo them everytime to pull the middle seats forward to let the bigger kids in.

CarGirl · 29/09/2010 22:14

Shoshe the solution to that is using the isofix car seats as much as possible!

maggi · 30/09/2010 14:40

Used to use a Mothercare own brand umbrella style double which would fit int he rear foot well or stood in front passenger footwell secured with seatbelt. However found it too cramped so bought a Lucida which is fab

Mummyto2xx · 30/09/2010 20:39

Iv looked on tesco website and they have a very leight weight pram that doesnt recline or do basically anything other that sit the children in but it looks very small although id say a little expensive at 55 pound, but needs must lol so may invest in one of them hoping to wait till it goes back into sale and could possibly( wishfull thinking) get it half price lol

wish i had of tok my prams along or maybe check out the boot size when purchesing the zafira i never realised how small, small they arew its only when you come to put a pram in them you realise how big prams actually are :(

Already put this on another thread but, Grin

A graco DuoSport fits in the boot of a Zafira, ( I had one) but I did need to hold it in with a bungee or it fell out when I opened the boot,

The Mothercare Duolite and the Mamas and Papas Aria Twin are all the same size as the Graco, as well so should fit.

looneytune · 01/10/2010 10:22

Shoshe - that's what I do with the double nipper when I use it (put wheel through gap and hold in with bungee or would fall out!)

anonymousbird · 01/10/2010 10:45

Phil and Ted with the wheels off? Its virtually flat and the wheels are easy to put on and off. Though, you get mucky hands if it has been raining/muddy!

jendot · 04/10/2010 18:51

Phil and Teds with the wheels off and a mamas and papas twin aria have both fitted in our zafira.

missymoo2411 · 07/10/2010 12:21

Mummyto2xx · 07/10/2010 12:36

I can recommend the OBaby Apollo Plus Twin. It folds up very easily and doesn't need a lot of space.
