Our au pair is almost 19. She is absolutely lovely, from Switzerland, and would like very much to meet up with other au pairs or local young people.

We live in the South Hams area of Devon if anyone can help.

Sorry I'm in the NW but when I had au pairs their social life was hugely helped by two things ;

  1. get in touch with your local high school and see if they have foreign language assistants as they might like to meet your au pair;
  1. They joined the younger group of the local Ramblers Association. Obviously they need to enjoy walking but for two of our's this was brilliant especially as there were outings all day on Sundays.

I think some also jon an evening class - one of our's did this to study beginner's Spanish.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for replying sandripples. Much appreciated.

She has booked to do an evening class GCSE English over the next year so will hopefully meet some other young people that way.

I have also looked and found a local running club in our town for her.

There is a facebook group au pair in the UK - that is how my APs have always found friends.
