is there any way to check up on parents like a crb check

I ask because

when I was a young girl i happy went off to live in people house to work as mother help never had much trouble a few dad trying it on and the odd phone call from debt collecters

but fact forward a few years and go back to babysitting
get a nice little gig off gumtree very happy

turn up this week and dad is in prison!

I know I dont live in london but do live in town with loads of nightlife so there is big need for baby siters

but we have to crb check now but what about the parent especial if you are going to live in

I know I would not be happy if had a daughter to go live with people I did not know.

What safeguard do you use?
Do you check up on parents you work for?

Unfortunally don't think it is possible

but would be nice to check/have written refs from
previous nannys (if any) saying that they can afford to pay the salary they offer and that they pay on time and don't come home late and don't have any weird/disgusting habbits etc

No way alas.

Though you can use the internet to look up things, such as you can sometimes confirm who their employer is, details about the house such as when it was last sold.

Not that such information really helps in anyway... you just need to go on gut instincts.

the trouble with round here is that is cost so much to buy a house most are rented
but never thought about the house one

the dad that is jail is very nice was told was he was in for ( I hope the truth)

have look around and cant find any newpaper stuff so cant be that bad

i suppose it just depends on where you live and knowing your areas

babysitting at least i don't see the parents much and as long as they are ok drunks you are ok

but I would never do live in again
