I'm looking at going back to work one day a week when DD2 is 6 months. Nurseries round here are around £60 a day, would a childminder be much cheaper? And could I ask a childminder to look after DD2 and to pick up DD1 from pre-school and look after her for a couple of hours?

St Albans area if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Looks like £5 an hour is the going rate, i put St Albans into childcare.co.uk, quite a few with vacancies. You may have to apy while DD1 is at pre-school. Good luck

i live in St Albans and the cheapest person I know is £5.75 per hour. You would then pay for food, nappies etc on top of that
