Does anyone know if it is possible to extend a 2 year working holiday visa for an Australian who is working as our nanny in the UK? Many thanks

The working holiday visa category no longer exists it is now Tier 5 Visa - Youth Mobility. These are very non-extendable.

These visas are convertable for certain professions which are avaliable as a list from immigration. They are converted to working visas there are a lot of hops to jump through and it is all very pedantic. We have had two antipodean employees convert the Youth mobility to working visas as veterinary surgeons.

Interesting to know that it is possible to change visa once in the UK Lizcat... though what if the nanny doesn't want to be a vet?

Working holidaymakers closed 26 November 2008. So I guess quite a lot of people may be in the position of getting to the end of their 2 years.

Does not look as though it's possible for them to apply for the Youth Mobility Scheme as one of the conditions for applying is: "you have not been in the United Kingdom at any other time as a working holidaymaker or under the youth mobility scheme." Source
