Don't know if this is the right place for this but how do you get a 'mother's help'?

This isn't for me, but for my younger sister.

She had her 2nd DS on Friday and is struggling somewhat. The dad isn't around (by mutual consent) and my parents (late 60s)are running themselves ragged trying to help her. She doesn't seem to be able to remember much from when her DS1 (now nearly 3) was born, and she did struggle then as well (both babies were totally unplanned).

I'm about 150 miles away so can't just pop in to help her and I don't drive (we're going to visit at the weekend). My dad has asked me if we can find out about any other help she could get as my stepmum is exhausted already. Do mother's helps still exist, or how would Dsis qualify for Homestart? She's not in work at all and is mostly existing on benefits (and help from parents).

TIA

Hi thanks for that stepmumtoone! She's in Chester. But I see from your profile that you're in Hampshire Sad.
Thanks a lot all the same Smile.

Yes she would qualify for homestart give them a ring.

If she needs a mothers help have a look on netmums see if anyone local or even a temp nanny may be of use, newborn experience is like gold dust to some nannies who really want to get into maternity nannying. You would be looking at around £7 an hr at a guess as its supporting mum rather than sole charge care.
