Short-term nanny - how do I find one?

Dear All

I really need your collective wisdom.

I've been offered a fantastic short-term freelance contract I'd LOVE to do but need childcare kind of now. It'd be next week (excluding BH Mon) and the week after. DCs aged 4 and 20 months next week then the week after it'll just be the 20 month old as I'll do school drop-off and DH will pick up.

I don't know where to start looking or what sort of budget I should have. Please help. I'm in SE London.

TIA

I would have a look on your local netmums and see if any temp nannies available on there.

Gumtree may be worth looking at placing an advert but will get lots of unsuitable responses and maybe you havent time to sort through them.

someone on here may be able to help - keep fingers crossed.

You would be looking at around £10-£12 an hr for an experienced and qualified nanny - they would be self employed as well as they are temp so you wouldnt be paying their tax and ni.

Oh, if you had posted this a week ago I would have been free!!!

Agree, netmums or look at the nanny ads on gumtree maybe? Also, advertise on netmums, nannyjob (I think this might charge though?) and gumtree if you fancy a million replies Wink

Good luck

another place to check is www.childcare.co.uk

if you dont manage to find a nanny you may be lucky enough to find a childminder who has a space who could have your baby for just that temp period.

what about emergencychildcare.co.uk ?

Right, slight change of plans I may now be available!!! I'm waiting on definate confirmation, but its looking likely I won't have work and do desperately need something!! I have 3 yrs exp with ages 3 days to 12 years, including sole charge of 6mth, 2.5 and 4.5 yr olds and sole charge of 14mth old twins. I'm qualified to NVQ 2, have a current Paediatric First Aid, enhanced CRB discclosure and a Police Certificate from Australia.

You can email me on nanny . beth @ hotmail . com (without spaces obviously)
