Can't find childcare - Crouch End - any ideas?

My ds has a place in pre-school, starting in Sept, but I am having problems finding childcare and would be grateful for any ideas.

He's in nursery at present, but they don't do pick-ups from the school, so I need a childminder who can pick him up at 11.30 and mind him for the afternoons, 3 days a week. I've worked my way through the list of cms provided by the LA, and asked friends who have cms already, but either they don't have vacancies or they don't do the 11.30 pick up.

What to do next? Any thoughts?

you can find a nanny with own child,a mum who wants some extra cash.this my work best and the care may be at your house.

Why are you moving him from the nursery to the pre-school?
Most nurseries have a pre-school room and they follow exactly the same curriculum as the pre-school, the Early Years Foundation Stage.
Most nurseries also let you claim the grant from 3 years. They are also open all year round, so you won't have to find childcare for the holidays, as most pre-schools are term time only.

Thanks for the replies.

If I don't find a cm, purepurple, I will leave ds in nursery, but I think the pre-school would be better for him, and would also give me the advantage of a couple of mornings a week to myself....

Put an ad up at the pre-school and see if you can find a nanny share/ a mum who'd be willing to care for him in the afternoons?
