My sister just helpfully told me that if you go overdue with your 1st you tend to go overdue with your 2nd. I don't believe her [head in sand emoticon] but wondered what people had experienced.
Please make me feel better

2 weeks over with ds1
spot on with ds2
week over with ds3

i think there is some truth in that some women do tend to have slightly longer or slightly shorter pregnancies but it isn't always the case.
i have a friend who had all 3 of her children at 43 weeks for example, and her mum was the same.

ddfred · 07/07/2010 21:18

9 days over with 1st
9 days over with 2nd

I tend to think it's true!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 07/07/2010 21:19

ds1 42+5 (induced)
ds2 - born on edd.

Fingers crossed for you!

Mumcah · 07/07/2010 21:47

11 days over with 1st

3 days over with 2nd

Karoleann · 07/07/2010 22:27

40+10 with first (induced)
40+8 with second (induced)

asked for induction with both as private.

Most of my friends have had similar gestations.

foreverastudent · 07/07/2010 23:29

1st pregnancies, on average, last one week longer than subsequent ones, if all is left to happen naturally.

Chulita · 08/07/2010 08:13

foreverastudent that's the kind of thing I wanted to hear
I know 4 weeks isn't much in the grand scheme of things but we all know what the hanging around does!

Currently 40+2 and sick of my life!

Good luck

RustyBear · 08/07/2010 21:15

I was 6 days over with both of mine.

poppysocks · 08/07/2010 21:21

9 days over with DD1
9 days under with DD2

lola0109 · 08/07/2010 22:27

DD1 40+6

was assured by midwife at 38 week check that she wouldn't be seeing me for 40 week check and just at my house with babe in arms.

DD2 40+6

At the time I was thinking of suing MW!

mrsPmumof4 · 08/07/2010 22:28

I can't give you my experience as only have one DD, but my mum was 10 days over with me (1st DC) and 12 days over with my brother....so it got worse for her!

foreverastudent · 08/07/2010 22:46

Some people might go consistantly 'overdue' if they have long menstrual cycles, causing their due date to be incorrect at the outset.

biglips · 08/07/2010 22:48

dd1 - 12 days late (induction and emergency c-section)
dd2 - 9 days late (induction and VBAC)

lovechoc · 09/07/2010 11:13

that will be myself then in that category!

DS1 - overdue by 11 days
DS2 - 39+5 pg and counting...I do anticipate going overdue again, just have a feeling about it, don't know why...

Chulita · 09/07/2010 12:18

Ok! I don't want to hear anymore cos hardly any of you are telling me what I want to hear [sticks fingers in ears and waddles runs away]

DD2- 4 days early

thursday · 12/07/2010 01:04

numero uno - 36 weeks

numero dos - 41+3 weeks

i spent the whole time fretting i was going to go even earlier and ended up pregnant for nearly 6 weeks longer. so imo, you never know.

NumptyMum · 12/07/2010 04:29

First: 40+12, booked for induction, waters went, labour stopped, augmented labour (drip)

Second: 39+5, waters went, labour stopped, augmented labour (pesseries - much better!)

ShrimpOnTheBarbie · 12/07/2010 05:33

DD1 - 40+6 and a looong drawn out labour and much damage.

DD2 - 38+3 and easy, quick labour

lovechoc · 17/07/2010 08:09

DS1 overdue by 11 days
DS2 so far I'm overdue by 6 days...

WillowM2B · 19/07/2010 11:14

DC1 almost 2 weeks early, induced (pre eclampsia)

DC2 almost 2 weeks late, spontaneous

DC3 currently knocking about inside me showing no signs of budging, 40+6
