how long does the period pain right down there pain phase last in early labour. Rung labour ward seems i could be in labour- am 39+4 op and have all the contraction symptoms. No show no broken waters. Just wondered when the pains get worse? This has been building since 2pm. The contractions are between 5 and 15 mins apart max and 1 min long. They are definitely getting more intense but i feel ok. I want to poo but I cant seem to sorry tmi. Is it normal to feel pressure/ the contractions in my bum too? Sorry first timer i know nothing!

thanks selina will do fast circles. Am back now- 1cm dilated. Had a trace- cs actually became more regular and stronger in hopst. i was suprised. Also had an examination- tried to move cervix forward but it bloody wouldnt stay. She said she has attempted sweep. Cs much stronger now every ten. Am shattered tbh. The cs really hurt even inbetween them feel shaky sore just recover then amother comes. Am home to refuel and rest until cant take the pain or it fizzles out to nothing- if that happens i've decided im just not going to give birth at all hope haggis is ok.

Sounds like you are progressing well now.
Try and rest a little if you get the chance, perhaps have some paracetamol to take the edge off?
Do you have a TENS machine you can be using?

Hope all goes well tonight - and that we hear very soon that you've got your lovely baby.

Confuzled · 07/07/2010 01:31

Aww, I remember that - you start to think the baby is NEVER GOING TO ARRIVE, don't you? Oddly enough my labour is now a blissfully happy memory, though I wasn't exactly enthralled at the time! Hope you feel the same in a short while.

Second the paracetomol, and the TENS - the latter was the only way I slept in my latent phase.

Remember to eat and drink to keep your energy levels up, if you feel at all like doing so.

Good luck, I shall keep checking for an update.

Ooh OP-hope everything going ok.

When I had pains around my bum & thought I needed the toilet-they were my contractions!

Any news? I was being jealous that at least something was happening for you. Am now in same boat!

Woke up with periody pain about 4am, had continuous show and intermittent contractions but not much else happening. Still, much better than the endless waiting for any sign at all.
