Anyone had a VBAC induced?

My waters went 32 hours ago. (I am 40+5) This is a planned home water VBAC, with my 4th baby. First two were quick, easy vaginal births. 3rd was the section for breech.

I am doing expectant management (my temp, pulse, babys stats at home) along with everything I can to get this labour going.

If nothing works than I will opt for an induction (I think) rather than a repeat section.

Has anyone had an induction of a VBAC? Did they use gel or a drip? How did it go?

All experiences welcome.

Many thanks

I had a syntocin induction and it was really fairly horrible (and I ended up with a section). But I've only a 16mth gap between my children, and it's not supposed to be a good idea to be induced less than two years after a previous c-section. Oh, and I had a very disengaged midwife and found myself strapped up on my back on the bed, which is so not what I had in mind.

I hope your baby just gets a move on and you have the lovely home birth you planned for

They told me they wouldn't do it, either natural or CS, no induction after a CS. But I have seen conflicting advices on here. Mine was an emCS first time, elCS 2nd. I suppose your CS was ElCS if it was for breech so may be different.

have you been checked again at the hospital or by a MW? when the water broke, you can get infections.
I had the syntocin before the emCS and it is pretty horrible, much worse than a CS.if they let you go for the epidural as well.
Good luck

I had a syntocinon drip with my dd2 after twins were c sec. That was 19mths later. She was aplanned HB and she got stuck while i was pushing.

Transfer in and threatened ventouse, drip. I pushed her out myself too quickly and had a 3rd degree tear. All fine though.

I went on to have 2 HB after that all fine.

Ds5 was induced as he was late. It was awful. Never again. Had every kind of induction method and ds was ventouse in the end. I was amazed to have avoided another c section. Lovely Reg saw to that i think.

Have had dd2 HB and all fine after that.

A mixed bag really. My baby was just not ready to come out is my feeling on the full on induction. I have late babies (mostly) and they don't like being forced out!

If your waters have gone you are already showing your own bodies signs. Hold off as long as you can but essentially your body has committed now

I am sure it will all be fine Will look for your BA soon!

that would be *, worse than a CS and a normal labour

Sorry that should say dd1 not 2 in the first para.

I didn't think that the OP's waters had broken? Mine broke early with both my babies and I never went into labour naturally (they left it the full three days with dd). I don't think that my uterus was made for pushing (even after 6 hours on syntocin I hadn't managed to move from the 1cm that I started with )

I haven't (am pg now, had emcs last time), but my friend was induced in May, hoping for a VBAC. She was induced on the Thursday and sent home, with plans for another induction on the Saturday, and a c-section that night if the induction failed. However induction worked the second time and she gave birth just with gas and air. I don't know how she was induced though, but could find out?

Personally though, I don't want to be induced - I would rather have another section if I go over my due date (will try to keep going for 14 days though). I love the fact you had "quick, easy" births, sounds great, perhaps there is hope for me yet! Good luck.

They won't induce after a section in our trust.

Have you checked with them that induction is on the table?

I was induced for my 1st one and ended with a emCS (posterior). At my debriefing with the obstetrician, I was told that I would be able to have a VBAC next time even as I would need to be induced. I have a health condition who mean that they'll deliver the baby at 38 weeks.
