My dd was born 10 days ago & I had quite a few stitches, they were sore & then improved but whenever I seem to walk a distance or generally overdo it seem a lot sorer. Yesterday I hoovered up & did lots of bending & lifting - stupid I know but the house was a mess. My bleeding went back to being red although wasn't heavy did get slightly heavier & since last night I have stomach ache whenever I move/walk. It feels more like a bruised feeling, or as if I had overdone it at the gym. Is it just a case of doing too much? I am seeing my mw on thurs anyway.

Cngratulations on your new baby, I had my son on the 12th too !

It certainly sounds as though your body is not quite ready to be doing so much, the increase in bleeding is a sign of that and I've also had the same since the weekend - am back doing the school runs etc now DH is back at work - and saw the MW today who said as long as there aren't any clots then all is fine with the bleeding.

Your body has been through a lot recently, the pregnancy and then labour will have all taken it's toll on you and will take a while to recover. I always feel pretty much fine physically after giving birth but I soon know when I've done too much as I end up in pain.

So, feet up as much as poss and delegate!

See your GP today as you may need antibiotics for a womb infection. Symptoms of a womb infection can include increasing pain, increasing bleeding, smelly vaginal discharge/blood loss, fever, nausea, feeling generally unwell.
If you have 2 (or even 1 if severe) of these symptoms you should see a doctor ASAP.

thanks for the advice ladies. saw mw today, stitches are clean but not dissolving v fast so advised salt baths. Stomach pain is muscular she reckons, is a lot better than it was too but will see gpif it worsens
