i am three days over due now. went to hospital on my due date, becuase was having discharge and contractions. mw examined me and told that it is not water break and i should go home and wait.if feel like fever, strong contractions, water breaks and blook and come back otherwise booked me for induction on 27 june. but i am unable to cope with these contractions. feel so strong for a while. cant ignore, then feels normal. cant sleep so tried paracetamol two nights before, was helpfull , had a good sleep but since then tried these pain killers twice but no luck, i am unable to sleep now though walk enough during day. tried warm bath as well. please help what should i do. it is my first baby, was normal throughout the pregnancy, just had piles last month, it does not cause anymore pain now, and hopefully will disappear itself after delivery. please help me. i want to rest for sometime before active labout. suggestionsssssssssssssssssss

Have you tried a birthing ball? If the contractions are getting stronger you could always pop back up to see the midwife. Your waters don't need to break for you to be in established labour so not sure why midwife said that - if I'm reading your post right.

The contactions need to last about a minute and be 5 minutes apart I think before they will admit you. Are you anywhere near that?

SparkleRainbow · 19/06/2010 08:38

Could be either strong Braxton Hicks or more like you are in the first stages of labour to me, but that can take quite a long time with first babies. Rest as much as possible, even if you can't sleep resting is very important, get up and move around still, but also lie on the settee and put your feet up. Keep eating a little bit of what you fancy, keep taking the paracetamol when it is bad and warm baths are really good too. Do you have a tens machine, or dh/dp to rub your back when it is bad? You are nearly there so don't despair, and try and remember soon this will be over and you will have a beautiful little baby in your arms, nothing better. Good luck, you can do it.

How are you doing emaan? It sounds to me like you are in early labour. Dont be frightened, I was in a similar situation, was scared because I was expecting the pain to get worse but it didnt. My advice would be to listen to your body, if you cant sleep get up and active. If you feel like you need more pain relief tell the hospital you are coming in and dont take no for an answer! You know your own body. Midwives are too dismissive of first time mums. I was told on the phone that it was too early to go in 50 mins before my ds was born. Have you got a supportive dp/dh? Make sure that they are prepared to advocate for you. Please come back and let us know how you get on, good luck!

went to hospital today at 10.00, was examined and mw told me i am 3cm dilated, and it is upto me if i wanna go back home and relaxe for a while, walk around, eat and drink, take warm bath which i had already taken in morning. and then come back in four hours time.

hmmm i came back, at around 1330, i felt some blood spots at my pad. went back to hospital, only to be told that i am still at 3cm. (hmm) fed up now, my hubby is with me all the time which is helpful though.
at home again, wanna eat something. and then will try to have a sleep with regular intervals (smile) and then will walk around,

hmm i am realizing now that its not an easy task to be a mum.
thanks for ur help friends. keep remember in ur prayers.

Thanks for the update! I've heard getting to 3cm is the bit that takes a long time, after that you are in established labour and things should move quicker. You've done the hard part! Good luck, I'll be thinking of you and that gorgeous baby.

SparkleRainbow · 20/06/2010 08:04

I am hoping you have that gorgeous baby by now, and if not it won't be long. Thinking of you.

emaaan · 20/06/2010 08:29

hmm still in same condition. took paracetamols for pain relief. dont know why it's taking too long. u know during contractions pain really becomes unbearable, but mw keep saying it is still not constant or longer lasting enough. any ideas why it is taking long, or is it natural. is there any complication?
thanks

Ah Emaan! I don't have anything helpful to say I'm afraid, just rest when you can. Maybe try walking up and down stairs to get things moving? Soon you'll be holding your lovely baby and this will all be worth it. Thinking of you xx

emaaan · 20/06/2010 18:31

i am still there, feeling strong contractions lasting for 40 seconds now, otherwise there is not any significant progress. i'm four days overdue now. let's see.

hmmm i did't know that it'll take so long otherwise i would have bought or hired a TENS machine already. Should i go for it now, will it be helpful?
it looks like progress is stopped, i dont know

How are you doing Emaan? I really hope you're holding that baby right now xx

SparkleRainbow · 21/06/2010 12:01

Got my fingers crossed for you Emaan, may be today is the day....or has been already. Thinking of you xx

emaaan · 22/06/2010 14:32

hmmm yes Marjee and SparkeRainbow, thanks for your continuous sport, you didt make me feel that i am alone. it was a pleasant feeling that someone out there is thinking about me. thank you so much.
yes yesterday at 11.38 am , in between your messages, I gave birth to my little angel whose name is Emaan- a baby girl. she is healthy and very coperative like me, dont disturb me at all,

we tried to spend sunday outside, did some walk then had lunch outside, went to see one friend with hubby, then went to beauty parlour.yes. keep smiling. did some grocoury.
In the evening, tried to rest for two hours. then went out again for an hour.
at about 00.30, my hubby was doing massage for backake and my feet which were crying for walking too much.
at around 0300, I was feeling strong contractions with swere back pain. but did not want to go to hospital as they had sent me back home repeatedly and I simply hated to be examined three four times. though I understand that is unavoidable.

told hubby to sleep and have some rest. but he phoned to hospital, told them I am having contractions after every less than three minutes, lasting for 45 seconds. Mv said to come in hospital for check up. booked a cab and we were in hospital in next 15 minutes.
There I start crying and told my hubby I dont want to be examined, tell them to judge my condition by some other way. hmm anyway, was examined again, she said, I am 6cm dilated. was admitted. I prefered to use gas & air mask, hmm until 0600 am , I had the courage to walk continuously with my hubby within the ward. they were monitering baby's heart beat with regular intervals. Was examined again at
0745, only to be told that I am still 6cm dilated, think of my condition at that time. ufffffffffffffff

My waters were broken then. and was told that will be examined again by 0900. From then , my only question was how long will it take?

was examined again at 0845 and it was 8cm.
I was still in maternity day care centre. they said as my iron level is a bit low (9.80) so They decided to shift me in labour ward.

Next two hours were really painfull, I gave birth to baby at 1138. and yes, both of you were right, believe me all the pains were gone when they put my baby on my chest. I was smiling and talking with everyone.had some stiches to stop bleeding while I was on phone. I dont know but all the staff said that I am very strong. I did not cry at all.though I saw wet eyes of my hubby.
was shifted to ward at about 1615, because they did not had any bed available before that. we are very happy and i am feeling well, though still in hospital, they are donig all the check ups for baby, hopefully will be cleared to go home today or tomorrow.
that is it.
thank you so much and yes your chocolates and sweets are waiting for you, anytime.

Ah congratulations, I'm so happy for you! It is long and frustrating but so worth it in the end. Enjoy her, they grow up too fast xx

SparkleRainbow · 23/06/2010 07:49

I am really happy for you both, give her a cuddle and tell her lots of people have been waiting for her arrival, not just her mum and dad! Well done you, now get some rest! xx
