39 weeks, a few contractions and 'shrinking' bump...

I'm nearly 39 weeks with DD3 and really thought I was going to go into labour last night. Was restless all afternoon and evening and was then woken by strong pains (although not totally regular contractions) about an hour after going to sleep. Pains went on for about an hour before I managed to get back to sleep.

This morning my bump seems noticeably smaller - I don't remember this happening before and assuming it's because baby is engaged? Anyone else had this?

I'm really hoping this means it's all going to happen soon - getting very fed up now!

Sounds like baby has dropped down - all good I think. Hopefully won't be long now.

I have three dds too - 'tis great.

Labour with my dd3 was rather stop/start and I kept thinking things were happening only for everything to stop.

Best of luck - and hoping you will have your lovely baby in your arms soon

Thanks Jenski - just what I needed to hear!

Can't wait for dd3 to arrive and have already been warned to expect stop start but that once it gets going it will be quick.

Fingers crossed it will be totally painless too

I loved the birth of dd3, don't remember any pain

How you doing today?

Threelittlemoomins · 17/06/2010 14:44

Feeling better today thanks. No more contractions so I had a good sleep last night. Just waiting for it to all happen now.

How old are your dds Jen?

My dds are 5 (almost 6), 4 and 18months. What will be the age gaps for yours?

Jenski · 17/06/2010 20:06

Glad you had a good night's sleep - your body must be gearing itself up for the big day. Brilliant! I am excited for you (and a little envious too

Threelittlemoomins · 18/06/2010 17:47

DD1 is nearly 4 and DD2 will be 2 in a couple of months, so similar age gaps.

Can't wait now to meet DD3!

Does your DD1 start school soon?

My DD2 starts school in September, so I will only have one at home (although going to go back to work part-time )

Let me know how you are getting on - I love hearing about new babies

Threelittlemoomins · 19/06/2010 17:47

Yes DD1 starts school in September.

I'll let you know when DD3 arrives - can't wait now!

I predict tomorrow (Monday 21st) - Summer Solstice.

Good luck!
