leg pains?

Sorry to keep asking silly questions, but I dont have anyone else I can ask.

When I have BH/Mild contractions I get a severe pain in the top of my thighs. It litterally cripples me, DH panics because I'll just yelp and bend over in pain. I cant move at all when it happens. They started sunday 30th (I think). Have been having BH quite regualy (sp, sorry), but the only time the intensity increases is when these legs pains kick in.

Just wondering really if anybody else has experienced it? I hadnt heard of pains in legs during BH/labour before (possibly my 1st timer ignorance). Im now 38+4, baby is fully engaged, and have had several shows (well I can only assume there shows).

Thanks girls

I felt about 75% of the pain during contractions in my thighs, the rest was mostly in my back. I had an epidural during labour, and I realised it had stopped working when I started feeling really bad pain in my legs (turns out it had come undone and had to be re-attached). I had a lot of leg pain in my BHs too.

I don't know if it's related but my baby was back-to-back and they said that might explain why I wasn't feeling conventional pain.

Think it might be the nerves to your legs getting "trapped" during the contraction, but not sure. As the baby's head is fully engaged he/she could be pushing on those nerves and causing the pain. Hope you are feeling ok despite this.

Thanks Babylann and Sparklerainbow

I did wonder if it was a trapped nerve, but when I use to get my periods I use to get an ache in the top of my thighs similar to what I have no, only way less severe, hence I wondered if they could be linked.

I should just ask my midwife, but I havent seen her since week 35 (she's been on holiday) and so far hasnt called to schedule another appointment.

I had horribly intense pains in the top of my thighs for my last labour, didn't have it for the first 2. Baby wasn't back to back, but had been very low down for weeks at the end of the pregnancy.

I found that having someone hold my feet during contractions helped me cope with the thigh pain. And whereas my legs ached during labour, it didn't last after the birth.

hope that helps a bit.

Thanks Nubbins, I'll definatly remember that (DH now has his labour task )

Feel like my body is teasing me now: Pains are now becoming much more often and the intensity is defo increasing too, and still a lot of it in the thighs. Come on baby, you can do your thing and come out now
