C-section Scar. Advice on when to start massaging it and how to do it!

Hi
I had a section 3 weeks ago and have recovered well, including a nicely healed scar. I've read on here advice on massaging the scar - does anyone have any advice on when I should start doing this and what I'm supposed to be trying to massage?

Thank you!

Hi - congratulations! This is how I've been doing it: Once you are sure the scar is fully healed (I waited until five weeks just to be safe), apply pressure to the scar line with your fingers in a clockwise motion. Move along the scar line little by little (ie, not moving your fingers across in one continuous motion, but pressing down on one bit of the scar line, then moving over slightly and repeating), making sure you apply firm pressure, then go back across applying pressure in a counterclockwise motion. I've been doing this twice a day.

You may feel a little sore the next day but this will improve, and my understanding is that feeling a bit sore indicates that the massage is working and the nerves are reactivating (because they were cut during the CS), so the numbness you probably feel now will start to go away.

I have also been using Mama Mio See No Scar Solution twice a day - I apply the solution, then do the scar massage.

Hope that helps!
