Induced with dc1 & dc2 then spontaneous with no.3?

Hello ladies, feeling a bit low today so would relish some reassuring stories regarding third labours. I was induced at term +10 for dd1, term +13 for dd2 and am currently 30 weeks with dd3. Ive got spd so feeling rubbish anyway and have had nothing but negative comments from several midwives throughout the pregnancy with regards to the possibility of spontaneous labour occurring this time around (even been told my chances are "slim to none!"). The thought of going two weeks overdue this time makes me want to cry and Id really like to experience labour without all the intervention. So, those of you who were induced with the first 2 and then had no.3 with no need for induction please make my day and come and share!

Sorry, I've never been induced but I would like to say that past experience of babies being overdue is no indicator. My mother had her first a bit late, 2nd a bit early, 3rd very late indeed (3 weeks) and 4th early. My first 2 were on time, and the 3rd was 3 days late ... the longest 3 days of my life!

I was induced with dd1 +4, ds +9, then given date for dd2 for +10 and she was a very spontaneous +5 early hours of the morning baby,

good luck hope it happens like this for you

Just read your op properly can't believe they said slim to none
although I was having contractions with first 2 before being induced iykwim

I sat on the birthing ball loads with dd2

It happened to a friend of mine. Her first 2 were never going to come of their own accord (MW said her cervix was like concrete!)but number 3 was absolutely fine. Good luck.

Plumbum - they induced you for +4?? Isn't that a bit impatient?

lovesaruby · 08/06/2010 07:31

Thank you, thats good to know. I know, I was a bit miffed when I asked what my chances were of using the lovely birthing unit this time and she said "slim to none"! Plumbum - Ive just got myself a birthing ball so will spend the next 10 weeks bouncing on it! I suppose in my favour with both inductions I was ready to go and needed a nudge I guess - both times I gave birth within 12 hours of being given the pessary so its not really like your friend Oops with her concrete cervix (that made me chuckle!). Ive stated I want 14 days before induction is discussed this time and they readily agreed so thats something too. Thanks again!

Ds - I was induced term+12, dd1 - spontaneous at term+10

I assumed I'd be pretty late with dd2 and had said no induction before term+14 but went into spontaneous labour at term+1. I think the only predictable thing about these babies is their unpredictability. Good luck.

Elasticwoman had high BP, but on the morning of induction was well on my way they did ARM and then syn(whateveryoucallit) drip, although I was convinced she was later and mw agreed placenta was very calcified and her skin was very dry when she was born
