I thought you weren't likely to drop down with subsequent pregnancies until you were ready to start/in labour. I'm 38+3 and gave birth at 36+6 last time. Does this mean it might happen quite soon? I know no-one can predict when it will happen (but it would be nice....

Doesn't mean a thing IME. DS was 3/5 for about 4 weeks before he actually came (40+10) and DD2 was the same until she was born (40+9).

sorry, was 40+6 when dc2 came but she'd been 3/5 engaged for many weeks. But hope for you that it happens soon!

Sorry, means nothing. The regular, painful contractions coming closer together and increasing in intensity will be a big clue though

Thanks all. I think I'm getting a bit fed up already as I'd expected it to have happened by now after last time. Mentally had prepared myself about being early - as it was such a shock last time (floorboards up, no elec or kitchen....). Have done all my jobs already and family being v. helpful with DD. I know I should be grateful for some more rest before it all starts again - will go and get some more books from the library (sure way to get things going)

hi, i feel your pain, my ds 1 was born at 36 weeks, ds 2 was 37 weeks, so with dd 1 was i was expecting early again. i was all prepared from 36 weeks and then i waited and waited. she arrived in the early hours of the day after my due date so techically she was an hour and 24 mins over but because i had been pregnant for 3 weeks longer than i ever had i felt hard done too!!
with first babies when your engaged, your engaed with subsequent babies they can come in and out of engagement. if your 3/5's then most of babies is engaged. hopefully it wont be too long for you hun. feel free to to message again, i understand how those last weeks can be xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Still here. Having lots of intermittent period pains and BHs. Lots of (tmi alert)clear discharge too since y'day but no show/mucuc plug. Am really fed up now with waddling/back and pelvis pain. Just want to get on with it now as I'm so uncomfortable.

There - that's better - thanks for letting me rant and feel listened to .

[ouch] as she gets up from the chair to go and get dd from pre-school

I was 3/5 engaged at 38 weeks with DC2 - now 40+5 and fully engaged but still no baby! So sadly I don't think it means much.

Hope it happens soon for both of us!

I swear I spent the last three weeks of pengancy sitting on my dd1's head. Got varicose veins of the vulva as a result so reast up as much as possible!
