Hi - we are moving to Petts Wood in a few weeks (I will be thirty weeks pregnant!) and i was wondering if anyone can recommend a good local GP and hospital for the birth as i haven't been able to find much info on line. Would be great to hear any thoughts and feedback. Many thanks

Hi there

I had my daughter in the PRUH which is local to you. I moved to the Bromley area myself when I was 5m pregnant and found the hospital very good. Hope this helps. Good luck with everything.

It is a bit further out from you than the PRUH, but I had DD#3 at Darent Valley Hospital (by Bluewater) and I can not praise them highly enough. Previous two were born at Queen Marys, Sidcup but I was not happy to go back there again for #3.

Can second that PRUH is great but Queen Marys is best avoided if you can.

We use the doctors at Poverest Road on the edge of Petts Wood and they are fantastic - lots of docs, sensible appointments system and nice doctors too. (Well 1 really odd one, but the others all great!)

Def avoid Queen Mary's, its closing in Oct and all the staff have pretty much left. Only horrid ones left!
I have just transferred to Darenth - agree they are brill.
PR in Farnborogh ok, but I often hear that they turn women in labour away because they are full up.
You might even be able to choose Lewisham, apparently good. Avoid Queen Elizabeth.
There are hideous road works in Sidcup until October so if you choose Darenth, map out your route! You can see their midives at Bexley, by the old mental hospital at the junction with the A2 (because you would be out of borough).
Welcome to a lovely part of the world!
