Straightforward birth with only a graze - but I think my episiotomy scar from last time round has got infected

That's it, really - except that I'm in the middle of battling thrush and really don't want to take antibiotics. Is this possible/likely? And if so is there anything else at all I can do to clear it up?

Bump to see if anyone's got any thoughts this morning - am getting very sore!

Sorry don't know about epi scar but you have my sympathies with thrush! How are you treating it? From my experience with it know you will feel sooo much better when it is cleared up.

I think you need it looking at by your m/w or GP to see if it is infected and how badly. Its unlikely that an old scar could get infected unless the skin there has gone again - is this where you had the graze?

Midwife just came and took a swab - so we'll see. I'm not sure where the graze is, haven't dared investigate too closely! But I can definitely feel a line of pain allong the site of the scar. I wonder if it might be thrush there too and the skin is just more irritable there?

Managed to get the GP to prescribe a single dose of diflucan, and it's definitely helped, but I don't think it's over, so I'll have to go back and see if I can persuade her to prescribe the full-on BFN dosage. And the midwife reckons that the poor old baby's spotty bottom is definitely thrushy - I've only got miconazole for his mouth so far, do any of you know if you cn use Canesten on teenies? He's only a week old.

Trust these things to happen at the weekend when you can't get hold of anyone in the surgery...
