Got no castor oil or hot curry, what can I eat to get things going?

I have mexican chilli bean wraps, quorn korma, sultanas, cereal, bananas, apples, tropical fruit juice, cranberry juice, peas, baked beans, bags of steamfresh mixed veg...

will any of those help bring on labour if I eat them tonight in sufficient quantities? I also have lactulose.

I need this baby out this weekend! Help!

I've just had dc4, 12 days late, he was born 2.5 hours before I had to phone the ward to see what time to go in for induction that day. As he was a booked homebirth, I REALLY wanted to avoid induction and my mw knew this, so she did everything she could to get things going.

Things that I think helped;
Lots of bouncing on a ball (I didn't have a birthing ball, but did have a giant space hopper....)
A VERY vigorous membrane sweep from the mw that afternoon - she confessed to me after that she had really gone for it as she knew it was a last ditch effort really!
Lots of crawling around on the floor to try and get baby to descend a bit.
A relaxing lavendar bath.

My MIL swears by walking - and I think she is right - try walking as MUCH as you can.

Lily - did you have a thread the other day about DH potentially not being there? If so, did it all go to plan and was it quick? Congratulations!!

Sorry OP! BTW, I tried a sort-of Riverdance routine, which didn't actually send me into labour, but made me go from 'tightly closed' to very favourable for induction. Had sore calves for days though!

heymango - yes, I was booked in for induction, and childcare issues meant dh would likely have to be looking after the older kids. As it happened, the baby was born the night before at home, kids slept through it all blissfully unaware, dh was there. So all was good!

clary sage oil - either in the bath or rubbed directly on your belly. I'm sure it worked for me, though it does smell like wet dog so maybe mix it with some lavender oil too.

Good luck

Nothing can induce unless baby is pushing down and cervix is ripe. Pineapple is another joke as you need to eat 8 whole ones and it must be fresh (tinned will not suffice). Sex only works if dilated and to acheive enough prostin (think thats the right chemical) you need enough spunk so 3 goes in 24 hours (toe curling!).

I was overdue with both babys. Late babys are always healthy babys too. Some babys are not strictly ready on 40 weeks some need 42 weeks and a scan can be 5 days out either way.

I know all this as I was obsessed by having a VBAC but it didnt happen.
