All the books go on about recovering from a normal birth can anyone answer the following questions please.

1: how long will I bleed for?.

2: is it normal to only use one maternity pad a day?.

3: is it normal to find the odd bit of thick membrane looking stuff which is deep red in colour or sometimes a sort of yellowish pale goldern colour?.

4: how long until I stop getting the odd pain down there?

5: does the feeling ever come back round where the cut was or does it remain numb forever?

I am 4 weeks post CS.

1.Just stopped bleeding.

2.Was never much, so one pad would have lasted, but changed it morning and evening at least.

3.No bits found, so I would check this out with a professional.

4.Still getting the odd pain, usually after exertion, or breastfeeding.

5.Sensation almost back, but still feeling a tad odd.

How long since your CS?

I've had s c-sections, the last one 6 years ago (dd was 6 on Friday)

  1. It was at least 6 weeks with each until I stopped bleeding altogether
  1. I think I was using 2-3 pads a day but bleeding was not particularly heavy
  1. I do remember the yellowish dishcharge
  1. Same as StinkyPinky, I had pains after breastfeeding
  1. The tenderness went quite quickly but I had numbness for weeks afterwards. Sensation back fully after about 6 months.

2 weeks and the bits look the same as the ones I get with normal time of the month, wondered if they was womb lining which is what I thought they was with normal time of he month.

It's 18 months since mine.

1: I bled for abot 5-6 weeks, but it was pretty light.

2: For me it was.

3: I don't remember any f tha, but tht might just be me....

4: I think it was approachng 6 weeks - anytime I did any kind of exercise it would hurt - like walking/coughing/turing over in bed.....

5: I still have a small numb patch now

I am 3.5 wks post section.

  1. I bled for 5 days
  2. Not heavy bleeding but I liked to change the pad a few times a day to help me feel nice and fresh
  3. I had some small pieces of placenta 1-2 days after delivery but then just blood afterwards. I would also get this checked out by your GP
  4. I get the odd pain now and again as well, I am expecting this to last for 6-9 wks (9wks for me after my last cs)
  5. I have a numb area under my tummy button but other than that I am pretty back to normal regarding numbness - the MW told me to do post natal exercises (the pulling your tummy button in towards your spine, bottom lifts, pelvic floors etc) to help increase blood flow and therefore aid recovery

i had a c-section in June 2010.

  1. bled for a few weeks, the first few days were very heavy.
  2. i used several pads a day
  3. dont remember that!
  4. i still get the odd twinge even now.
5.still have an area on the right of the lower tummy that is numb.

second baby due in November 2010 - is it true that you are much more likely to have a c-section again if youve aleady had one? im fairly relaxed about this, my only focus is delivering a healthy baby.
