Pleasurable Birth?

Hello Mums!

I'm doing my Master's dissertation at UCL about birth experiences that are pleasurable and I need your help.

I know that every birth story is unique and mums feel all sorts of different things during childbirth. Pain and fear are topics that come up a lot in birth stories, and I understand why (and have admiration for all birth experiences!), but I'm interested in sides of birth that aren't researched as much - empowering, positive and even pleasurable birth stories (whether painful too or not).

If you would like to share your story please let me know and I'll send you my email address, I would love to chat with you and all information will be kept anonymous.

Many thanks,
Anna

For me, my second c-section (which was elective) wasn't exactly physically pleasurable - I couldn't feel a thing! But it was euphoric. I felt like I was on cloud nine.

The best way I can describe it is like a pleasurable out of body experience - I felt slightly detached and quite high, to be honest . The moment they lifted my child up for me to see was wonderful. I have honestly never felt happier. I had quite a 'modern' c-section - a so-called 'natural section', where they lower the screen at the moment of delivery, so you can see your child being born - and it was just lovely.

Actually, I did have a pleasurable caesarian. But the absolutely euphoric part of it was afterwards when they'd put the catheter in and I could just lie there in bed and drink jug after jug of lovely cold water without having to worry about hauling myself out of bed and hobbling down to the loo. Pleasurable sensation- oooh yes!

StarlightMcKenzie that doesn't sound stupid, it sounds lovely.

Cory your c-section sounds like it was a very positive experience.

If anyone would like me to follow up on your experience please email me at ucsaanc at ucl.ac.uk

I've done a variety of interviews now (thank you Mums!!) but still need hear more from women who had physically pleasurable birth or sensations during birth besides or in addition to pain.

Many thanks Mums,
Anna

Did anyone use sex to bring on labour, nipple stimulation to bring on contractions, or any kissing/caressing from a partner to deal with the pain?

I'm still looking for more birth stories!

Thanks Mums
Anna

Just seen this topic. I had a fantastic birth at the Barkantine Centre (like pollydianasmummy who has also posted). Like her, I loved it and would be very glad to talk to you.
