I plan on having my sister there, as well as my DH, but she is a doctor in the hospital where the baby will be born so I can't see the midwives chucking her out! I think you ought to be allowed your DP and your Mum though, it would seem unfair if they wouldn't let you have them both. In my experience the person who shouts the loudest often gets the rules bent for them in that type of situation, so just insist that they let them both stay!

In our hospital they have a policy of 2 birth partners so Im guessing yes you probably can, and they can be anyone you want.

Hi all,
I had my DH and my sister with me for first baby and will be doing same for second.
DH was amazing but it was great to have another woman who'd been through childbirth to support me, was the perfect combination.
Think nearly all hospitals have a policy of allowing 2 people with you in labour.
Good luck!

My mum has been with me for all 5 of my births, dh was there too for our children and the mum's were there for the surrogate babies (well, intended to be, L arrived too quick for her mum to make it).

It's never been a problem to have 2 people there with me although the hospital were very strict that if I needed a section it was 1 person max (none if it was under a GA rather than epidural).

You know i imagined that they wouldnt let anyone in if it was CS! If i do have to have CS i would prefer to be under, i'd never really thought about it until now......
