Breech with Big'un 34 weeks - did yours turn in time?

Just had a growth scan for sugar in urine and measuring big. Turns out that 3 (yes 3 - what do they teach them these days?) different midwives were wrong and baby is not head down but BREECH!
I am still in shock as DD1 was right way round.
I have said throughout pregnancy that this one isn't as active as DD1, the fetal movements are different - I have said this to every midwife too! I kept being worried there wasn't enough movement.

So who had a big breech at 34 weeks (scan estimate already over 6lb) (tho DD1 delivered 38+4 7lb 3) and did it manage to turn around? Bearing in mind, this little monster has been in the exact same position since about 20 weeks.

My DD was breech until 37 weeks

look on the spinning babies website for some good tips on trying to turn her

Also i swear by reflexology ...

(DD was born @ 6 lbs 6 oz so on the small ish side but she was never head down until she turned late on)

Friend of mine has just had a baby. Weighed 7lbs 9oz, it was breech until 2 weeks ago, then gradually shifted around.

DD1 was breech all the way - when she finally popped out (as a breech birth with IMs) she weighed in at 9lb 12. We declined an ECV.

"Breech Birth" by Benna Waites has a chapter on complementary methods you can use to encourage your LO to turn, and is a very informative read.

Good luck

My ds turned at 38 weeks. He was born at 41 weeks, 8lb 3oz. I tried everything to turn him and am really convinced it was the moxibustion what did it.

beccas · 18/05/2010 16:26

Did you do the moxibustion yourself or go to an expert?

I tried the bum in the air exercises from the spinning babies website and mine went from breech at 30 and 34 weeks to transverse at 36 weeks... seeing consultant tomorrow at 37+3 to see if it's managed to turn all the way round!

I tried moxibustion but it's a bit tricky to do yourself and it stinks so if you want to do it I'd go to an expert!

DS was transverse at 34 weeks. I tried doing handstands at the swimming pool (as recommended on an American website). A bit embarassing but when the midwife checked the next day he was head down! He'd been transverse from about 26 weeks.

beccas - dh did it but I'd been for shiatsu a couple of days before and the therapist showed me the technique, then brought the herb cigar thingy round for me. This was in the evening, I felt the baby being quite active and then the next morning was convinced he'd turned - a scan later showed he had . I'd recommend going to someone if you can really.

He was not fixed though, had been swinging from breech to oblique/transverse and back again for a while. I had been told he was head down at 34ish weeks but am now not convinced this was true as I wasn't scanned.
