I want private postnatal physiotherapy but don't know where to find it

I've just had my first birth (2 weeks ago), second degree tear, stitches apparently healing well, no incontinence problems.

However, although everything seems to be going well, I'd like to see a physiotherapist to see if my bits are working properly and to teach me the right way to do pelvic floor exercises (I'm doing the exercises as they are explained on the leaflets, but I can't be sure I'm doing them correctly...)

I suppose I won't be able to get a NHS appointment since I don't have incontinence or prolapse problems. So, it seems logical to me to look for a private physiotherapist.

And here's the thing: I have no idea where I should starting looking for, or where I can find a good professional / clinic. Has anyone here ever gone for private physiotherapy? Can someone give me an indication? Is is terribly expensive?

Thanks in advance!

Oops, forgot to mention: I live in NW London - anything in the nearby area would be great, but of course I can travel to other parts of London.

How about John and Liz hospital in st. johns wood. You can self refer. see:
www.hje.org.uk/page/physiotherapy

If you delivered at the royal free, then you can self refer for NHS postnatal phsyio there.

If you would consider seeing an osteopath (its pretty much the same thing) then you could try Joanne Blades at the Garry Trainer clnic in primrose hill. I saw her for some antenatal treatment so I expect she's probably quite clued up for postnatal too. Not Cheap.

ReneRusso and BlameItOnTheBogey,

Many thanks for that!

I'll call the John and Liz hospital on Monday to make an appointment, and take a look at the osteopath clinic as well.
