i'm seven days over due date with my second, and has been really on off signs of labour - i.e., half a day of contractions last weds, same last Fri but a bit stronger. Then yesterday I started having much stronger contractions and just for fun each one was accompanied by either the runs or being sick. Carried on all morning about seven mins apart, midwife even popped in, then at 3pm they stopped. On the plus side I got a really good nights sleep last night which I needed. Had half a piece of toast this morning but made my tummy bad again. Thing is, I have been really impatient for things to start, but felt so yuck yesterday that now I'm really scared.

ah, not very good at knowing what to say, except babies come when they are good and ready. Do you have someone with you a lot fo the time to look after you in your not well state as you must be feeling uncomfortable. My sympathies are with you and if I was near you I would try and help you in any way I could (easy to say) good luckx

Hang in there Jiminycricket, your baby must be really happy in your tummy it sounds like he's letting you know he's nearly ready, I had the sick/poo thing too, not nice.(I can never eat potato wedges again!) Try to give yourself a nice treat today, a glossy mag, hire a DVD and before you know it you'll have a beatifull baby in your arms. Good Luck. x

Thanx all. A DVD is a good idea, I have some trashy comedy chick flicks to watch. Having 'coffee' - not that i'll want any - with a friend later for the company too.

try a funny dvd. I laughed so much to a billy connolly dvd that my waters broke!!
Worth a try and the laughing will release lots of lovely endorphins as well and make you feel good.

Good luck hope it happens soon.

Oh, Jiminycricket, the longest I went overdue was 7 and a half hours, so I really feel for you, I can never eat apricot yoghurt again though as thats what made me throw up when I was in labour with dd, I hope your baby doesnt make you wait too much longer, and I'm sure you will forget all these feelings you have now as soon as you have that first cuddle.

I went to bed feeling really positive, did a visualisation of having the baby (calmly and in control of course), had a morale boosting chat with the baby and have been having strongish contractions since 1 am. Night midwives were here for a bit but i'm coping and they got called out to someone else at 5. Since 8 the contractions have been going off a tiny bit so I'm desperately pottering around trying to encourage them - send me all your positive vibes

owww. Three midwives been and gone so far, still in 'early labour' although i think it just took an encouraging turn for the worse...They better come back at 5 like they said cos they havn't left me any gas and air yet! Stoopid contraction things needing a lot of encouragement at the mo i.e. have to keep moving around in order to stay in excruciating pain..ah well, all for the good.

Good luck, perhaps some squatting, or if you do need to rest lay on your left side and eat lots of carbs. If you are in for the long all and spending lots of time moving you need to keep your energy up so food and rest are essential too. Perhaps some up and down stairs and then a rest? Hope your birth goes well, keep us posted xxx
