Do subsequent labours follow the same pattern?

With DD my labour started with my waters breaking. Within a few hours I was having pretty painful contractions.
Id had no BH's or anything before.

Im now 38+2 with number 2 and again not really experiencing many BH's yet and half expecting for my waters to break like before first.

What were your second/subsequent labours like? Did they follow a similar pattern or just random each time?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Nos 1 and 2 were very similar in all respects, except that with no1 I had no BHs at all and labour took twice as long and with no 2 I had a 3hour break from cxs very early on.

No 3 OTOH was totally different. The only similarity being that my watersonly broke when I was in 2nd stage.

Hope it all goes well for you.

random for me
DC1 waters went about 8 hrs before labour started
DC2 waters didn't go until about 9cm

Random for me. Waters leaked for days with ds1, waters never broke at all with ds2 (well, they broke on the same contraction as ds2 came out in)

mosschops30 · 07/05/2010 13:56

Totally random

dd - spontaneous labour, lasted 25 hours, G&A and pethidine, small tear

ds1 - induced, 6 hour labour, no tear

ds2 - induced continuously over a week, 12 hour non-progressive labour ending in EMCS

No.1- waters broke in the night, no BHs or any other signs prior to this, dd born by ventouse 24 hours later
No.2- was in early labour for a couple of days on and off, woke in the night with strong contractions, waters had to be broken just before starting to push. Ds born by emergency c section 12 hours after labour 'started'
Totally different!

(both of mine did arrive on their due dates though so were similar in that respect!)

heth1980 · 07/05/2010 14:34

Both of mine were exactly the same.......waters broke first and babies both born at 37+1. Only difference was the length of labour......DD1 6 hours and DD2 3 hours.

ChasingSquirrels · 07/05/2010 14:50

v similar, except 3 months of v constant BH's with ds2 (5/6 an hour every hour), didn't have any BH's with ds1.

waters went at 36+6 and 36+6.
contractions started quickly after (30 mins and 10 mins)
labour progressed quickly and babies born easily (2 hrs for ds1 and 15 mins for ds2).

With both of mine lots of braxton hicks for a week before waters went, then labour started with a vengeance. The only difference was the speed with the 2nd labour being just 2.5 hours long.

1st baby - waters went at 35+3, dd born at 35+4 (labour 3h 25m)

2nd baby - contractions started 4am 39+6, ARM performed when I was 6cm, ds born same day (labour 9h 50m)

28w pg with dc3 - wonder which way I'll go??
