Passing wind vaginally after third degree tear

Hi

I delivered DD 11 months ago and unfortunately sustained a third degree tear. However I healed well and have a fairly good pelvic floor. I was checked regularly and thoroughly afterwards and at my six month check up my obstetrician told me I had healed beautifully and could even deliver vaginally if I had another baby.

However I often pass wind through my vagina. It has not worried me until now as I have no pain, discharge etc and sex has felt okay. I just happened to read something that said the main symptom of a recto-vaginal fistula was passing flatus vaginally.

Should I go to my doctor?

Sorry to be so graphic, didn't know who else to ask

Well worth checking out - I had a check for a fistula after DD's birth. Not pleasant as it was just after an awful forceps birth but it was a quick check for me. Involved swabs and dyes and quickly ruled out a fistula.

Hope it gets sorted quickly for you.
