just wandering, if you've had prostaglandin induction do your waters possibly go of their own accord or do you always need them artificially breaking???

hmm. can go on their own - especially if the gel tips you into labour. more often the gel gets your cervix dilating enough to get in with the crochet hook.

either way - hurrah. leetle baby on it's way soon.

My waters didnt go naturally when I was induced but then they didn't go naturally when I wasn't either.

My waters broke naturally after one prostin pessary. After which everything got fairly speedy!

SilveryMoon · 02/05/2010 20:53

My waters broke onj their own after 2 pessaries (6 hours apart IIRC)
They had tried ARM inbetween, but babies head was too close and they didn't want to risk scratching him.
All moved pretty quick after 2nd pessary. Waters went about 20 mins after and ds2 was born within half an hour (I think)

We were there all day though, got there at about 9:30am and ds2 wasn't born until 00:37am, so make sure you take plenty of snacks and a good book.
Although saying that, my midwife made me spend most of the day walking up and down the stairs so didn't get much rest.
Go to bed now and try to get as much sleep/rest as you can.
Good luck

Mine went on their own after three pessaries, with the most enormous 'pop!'

CarGirl · 02/05/2010 21:02

all inductions

dc1 - ARM
dc2 - went at some point between only pessary and delivery
dc3 - ARM (my fault for demanding induction on due date rather than 14 days over!)
dc4 - went as I delivered, official labour was only 2 mins though, need 2 pessaries though.

SuziKettles · 02/05/2010 21:03

crackpot - my waters broke at 1.30am. Cue me trying to labour quietly on the antenatal ward so I didn't wake anyone up and attempting to mop up my waters from the floor with paper towels from the bathroom - madness!

clayre · 02/05/2010 21:09

mine went themselves after just one pessary, i thought a needed a poo so went to the loo just as a sat down they exploded and thankfully the gallons of water went in the toilet, baby was born an hour or so after that!

Ladyem · 02/05/2010 21:23

DD - Went into labour naturally and they broke my waters at 8cm.

DS - Induction at 38 weeks and they went on their own after just one pessary and only a couple of pushes before DS was born!! Apparently, they came out with such a force, one of the MWs had to jump out of the way!!!

Good luck!!

bruffin · 02/05/2010 21:32

Mine went themselves but it was after two days of inducing.
