Hi everyone

I went for a scan yesterday and was told by the consultant that my baby is going to be on the large side, that is maybe 10lbs+

I have read a MN thread discussing birthing a big baby but wondered if anyones' FIRST baby was a big baby.

I know that first births are generally thought to be more difficult/longer and now coupled with the baby being big i'm wondering how I'm now going to cope.

I'm 37+4,I would appreciate any advice/ experiences you have as I just want to get a realistic picture of what it might be like and what things I really should be considering if I cannot manage a natural birth (eg cs v episiotomy and forcepts

Please tell me what you think. Thanks in advance

I had a scan at 37 weeks and was told he already weighed over 8 lb i was soooo scared as my daughter was only 5lb 11oz!!! So they said full term would be 9/10 lb at least!!!!!

Anyway cut a long story short I had a very dinky 6 lb 12oz boy. xxx

these scans are obviously no great predictor of size, in any case it's much more important how you baby is presenting itself i think

Hi everyone,
I was measuring 3 cm too big, and i knew something was wrong. No-one listened and i thought they knew best.
Anyway, i went a week late and they tried to sweep me - nothing happened so they gave me a scan and the sonographer thought there was something wrong with the machine so had to repeat the scan. He said "It's looking like it's going to be about 13lbs!"
I obviously had to give up on the idea of a natural delivery and was booked in for a section the next morning. They didn't listen to my requests for skin 2 skin or no formulae milk or anything - it was awful.
Anyway, he was a little out - she was 12lbs 9oz!
I'm now 28 weeks pregnant with my second and am much more aware of what i want and how to get it. I'm booked in for a sizing scan at 36weeks and we'll see what happens!
