Ok- at what point should I worry about this?!

Brief back story- DD born 2 weeks ago today, normal birth (following secondary pph after DS birth 4 years ago). Been given anti b's as a precaution due to continuing afterpains- doctor being cautious after retained products etc last time. Anyway, 3 days ago bleeding stopped... Like, completely stopped. Woke up last night with period type pain, which quickly stopped. No bleeding again all day, until just now, got up and it kind of gushed, and bright red. (sorry, tmi). Now stopped again, but low-down 'achey' pain again. Do I ring doc tomorrow (already on anti b's, REEEALLY don't want a d&c) or is this normal?!

ring post natal ward or see doc just to be on safe side :-)

FWIW I had similar - got in touch with my MW who said its quite common and normal to stop bleeding and then have it start again. But I would ring your doc just to be on the safe side.

Congrats!

Thank you both. Thought I'd give it a while before I called (putting it off I suppose), and it's all stopped again. I promise I will call if it happens again!

I had a similar experience with ds, stopped bleeding for a few days, then had terrible lower back pain.
Then passed a huge clot, like a lump of jelly in texture, (massive, half the size of my baby's head) followed by gushing of blood.
Midwife told me the clot blocked the cervix and the blood built up behind it.
Was a bit freaked out at the time though.
