Are you still potentially at risk/baby at risk if younhVe a section? As baby isn't birthed vb?

My nhs trust doesn't test so I have a self test as a friends baby died a day and a half old from a strepb infection? Don't want to do the speciums and pay the £32 if there is no risk!!!

Still a risk with a c-section.

Should have said, sorry about your friends baby

Group B Strep Support GBSS website here

DS1 was born by emergency c-section and we very nearly lost him to group b strep pneumonia. yes, i had antibiotics during the section but for him it was too late due to undetected prolonged rupture of membranes.

but with a c-section i think you have the antibiotics anyway.

£32 isn't a lot to pay for peace of mind, even if the risk is tiny. Sorry to hear about your friend's baby.

They tested my DS for Strep B after he was born, I think probably because he had jaundice, even though I'd done a private test which was negative. The tests took a couple of days so they started him on medication just in case. Luckily they came back negative again.

Thanks yeah £32 isn't alot of money I'm currently 37 weeks and it has to be done now! I guess I was just checking ! I'll do it tomorrow for peace of mind! Thanks for the responses.
