question re bleeding in labour and ecs

Just had a phonecall to say friend in labour since this afternoon is bleeding and has been taken for an ecs. I know about placenta previa but not much else that could cause bleeding. I'm beside myself with worry for her.

What else could cause bleeding in labour that would lead to ecs?

TIA

hi, i had my baby 10 weeks ago because of bleeding, don't really know why, but i did go on to lose 2litres of blood, but both myself and baby were and are fine, I was told it was something to do with my uterous I bled a lot in my first labour also which was natural, try not to panic, she's in the best hands!!

could be an abruption but that would be an emergency cs.

Hope they are all ok.

I'm not a medical person but I think it would be if the placenta started to break away from the uterus before the baby is born.

most likely reason is a placental abruption, where part or all of the placenta shears away from the uterine wall. causing bleeding and lack of oxygen to the baby, so the baby has to be delivered ASAP

could be a placenta previa that is not coverng but touching or v v close to the internal os

hope all is well

Hi all, didn't see your messages until today.

All went well. A healthy baby boy shortly after I posted and my friend is doing well
