Going into labour before midwife has brought homebirth pack

I have been requesting a homebirth ever since my very first midwife appointment. I'm now 37+2 weeks and finally last week the midwife agreed to it. She promised to bring the homebirth kit this week. I have just called her and now she says that she can't bring it until next week as she is too busy. I'm worried that I might go into labour before then. DC1 was born at 33 weeks and I have been having strong braxton hicks lately so there is reason to think that this one could come quite soon.

Has anybody else gone into labour before the midwife brought the birthing kit and still been able to have a home birth? If my labour starts over the weekend my plan is call the labour ward and insist that I am staying at home and ask the midwife to bring the kit with her. I don't know if this will work in practice. I have been told that it takes quite a long time for the midwife to drive out to the hospital and collect everything. Does anybody have any experience of this?

I planned a home birth, started labour at home, ended up transferring in (just because I was getting exhausted, nothing serious). Not early at all - and I never got a homebirth pack. The midwife brought a few things with her when she came out to examine me etc but no gas and air etc, she would have got this later had I needed it.

Do you know what is in the pack? Anything you could get in yourself to put your mind at rest?

I did ask another midwife at an earlier appointment what is in the pack but all she would say is "some bits and pieces". I guess I would be most worried about them having all the correct resuscitation equipment available.
