With DD I was Induced after being 2 weeks late.

Im currently 33 weeks with number 2 and feel abit like a first timer again as I dont know what would happen if i went into labour naturally.

Was chatting to a friend earlier about not feeling well today. Was sick this morning, have back ache, tummy is very uncomfortable and babys movements have been very painful. Lots of pressure in my bum too. She joked that this could be the start. Not that i think it is but its got me thinking ( prob not a good thing!)

So... experiences please

contractions started with no warning both times, 1st time hoovering and 2nd in bed at 4am.

My waters broke first both times. First time around there was a gap of 16 hours between waters breaking and contractions starting. Second time around contractions started straight after waters broke. First labour was 6 hours from 1st contraction, second labour was 3 hours.

dd... days of cramping and 3 days before she was born a show. contractions got painful and regular at 9pm on a sunday night, went to hospital at 12pm but was only 1/2 cm so wandered back home, laboured all night... quite painful and regular contractions, went back at midday at which point they broke my waters which were bloody but things sped up alot and she was born at 2.47pm

ds1... woke at 6am with contractions, mild and irregular but intensified and got quite close together, went to hospital at 8pm that night and was only 3cm so they broke my waters at 9 which got him moving and he was born at 11.57

ds2... woke at 6am with incredibly strong contractions, very regular and long... had to cross my legs as it was hours before we got to hospital (mother not turning up and then long drive). was 3cm when i got there at 10am and had him at 11.47 (no ARM this time, turns out i just do the final bit all in one go naturally!)

My mum said that she just woke up each time that day feeling a bit 'under the weather' couldn't really explain it, and actually I felt the same.

With my first I started having mild pains through the night, a full weekend of this and I had a show, dd was born a week later.

With my second I had mild pains for two nights, then late in the afternoon my waters broke and I gave birth to ds within the hour on my bed 50 miles from the hospital where I had planned to give birth, I had a fantastic ambulance team and luckily a dramatic but safe birth.

It's really hard when it comes to the end, each time, I kept checking books about the signs of active labour and yet I missed the obvious the second time! Best of luck

I think I got mixed up because first time I had an awful backache labour (baby was prosterior) second time baby was in the best postion and the difference in pain level made me think it wasn't the real thing yet.

With DD1 I was 4 days overdue and tramping round our park on the phone to my friend saying 'I just wish something would bloody happen' and just as I said it my waters broke like Niagra Falls. My DH was luckily at home and picked me up within 15minutes. I drenched 3 bath towels in the 10min journey home (sorry if TMI) About 6hrs later the contractions started - very intense and strong fairly quickly...it all went a bit tits up then and ended with EMCS after 26hrs labour. But DD1 gorgeous 3yr old now so all worth it.

Pigleychez - am now 39+3 with DD2 and feel like a novice again - it seems very different this time. Have had period pains /backache on an off for ages (very intense last night) but nothing happening yet. Have felt really crap today like with bad PMT - have no idea if it means anything. I wish you all the best with yours...
