Presentation Scan and ECV

I'm currently 35+6 with my first and have just been for my 36 wk midwife appointment. Because she is unsure of the position of my baby I've been booked for a presentation scan next Tuesday, and possibly an ECV.

Can anyone give me some more info on these and the possible outcomes, from their experience.

Thanks

hi, sorry, not speaking from experience.... i am 32 weeks with my first.
My baby has been breech all the way through and I asked the midwife about what the options were.

she said at 36 weeks i can have another scan and ecv- with a small possibility of the baby going into distress and me needing a section right away.
There is a 60% success rate for ecv at my hospital.

if I didnt try it- I would be booked in for a c section at 39 weeks, as they dont have breech trained midwives where I am; but that may be different for you.

I am going through this at the moment, so can't tell you the outcome yet! Had a scan 2 days ago at 36+4. Baby is transverse at the moment, so they booked me in for a ECV at38 weeks. As thegauntlett says, there is always a minor risk that the baby will get distressed, so you will be told to bring your hospital bags in as you may need a Csection. But apparently at my hospital this has never ever happened.
If the ECV is not successful, I will need a C section at 39 weeks and am already booked in for that. They'll cancel if the baby stays head down and I'll have the baby normally.
Good luck!

Thanks for your replies ladies. I think I'll take my hospital bag with me on the day then just in case! Quite looking forward to seeing baby again on the monitor anyway!
