...have seen OP used when describing baby's position, what does it stand for please?
(sorry for being dumb )

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FannyLogan · 29/03/2010 22:22

Ocipto posterior {sp???)

Is a standard medical term though - not Mn

SirBoobAlot · 29/03/2010 22:23

Occiput Posterior - the baby is head down, but facing your tummy.

hairymelons · 29/03/2010 22:24

Occiput Posterior which means the baby is facing towards your tummy rather than facing towards your back. It is also called 'back to back' and can mean to a longer labour with back pain.
The opposite is OA or Occiput Anterior which is the position you'd like to have your baby in ideally!

alannabanana · 29/03/2010 22:39

ah yes, the back-to-back thing - i get it now. thanks! have only ever heard it called back-to-back before now.

ps - another one that gets me is when people write 'iyswim' or something like that...any ideas??

pps - when i first started posting on here i didn't even know what dh meant!

Look here, OP Don't worry - I've been here over a year and am still getting my head round it

madcatsazz · 11/05/2010 09:10

AF - I know it relates to periods but I can't work out what it stands for - can anyone help?

nunnie · 11/05/2010 18:19

Aunty Flow for AF.

PixieCake · 11/05/2010 18:25

If you haven't seen it, there is a tab at the top of this page called 'acronyms' that lists some of the common ones.
This isn't meant to sound patronising by the way - I found it really useful!

minipie · 11/05/2010 18:33

Oh while we're asking - what the hell is SWI'ing (in relation to conception)?

From the context it's clearly having sex, but have been racking my brains trying to figure out a euphemism with those initials!

madcatsazz · 11/05/2010 19:06

Ahhh, minipie - that's another one I wanted to know too.

Pixie cake - I have read through the acronyms but AF (or SWI) for that matter are not on there

minipie · 11/05/2010 19:55

Dammit madcats, I got all excited and thought you were going to give me the answer.

I think it might be "Shagging Without Ixxxx" but can't work out what begins with I. Impediments?

I'm probably way off.

madcatsazz · 11/05/2010 20:22

Sex with intent? Something to do with TTC I think but I don't know

Maybe we could invent out own meaning?

Shagging without ice cream?
itching?

minipie · 12/05/2010 20:18

How about Sleeping With Impregnator

Or, Sex Will Increase?

Oh I don't know.

Someone tell us, please.

Cosmosis · 12/05/2010 22:37

Shagging With Intent

madcatsazz · 13/05/2010 16:43

thanks cosmosis - I'll rest easy now!

minipie · 13/05/2010 16:57

Ahhhhh

thank you!

Cosmosis · 13/05/2010 17:25

it's because we thought all the alternatives were a bit twee, we preferred to be a bit more straight talking!
