Knowing that you are a lovely doula who posts with sensible childbirthy type of stuff, come and hold my hand and give me some soothing noises as I am getting frustrated
You always seem good with your visualisation stuff
39+6 here
DC1 and DC2 both started with waters breaking and regular painful contractions which increased in intensity followed sensibly by delivery
DC1 LSCS breech
DC2 ventouse

DC3 (at the moment), stopping and starting like crazy.
I have had 10 days and several episodes of thinking things have started, and then they don't
I persuaded the mw to sweep me on Thursday, and had some contractions for 5 hours but then all went again
She said I was 50% effaced , anterior with stretchy multips os to 4cm
I'm sure head moved down few days ago, as can barely go 20-30mins without needing to wee yet again
This morning got woken by even more painful contractions,I really thought it was going to happen but they again went after 1 hour.
I am going ggggrrrrgghghhg internally
WILL I EVER GO INTO LABOUR?

Everyone I speak to says 'oooh , third labours are renowned to be like this!'

i was making corn muffins, acksherley

is baby OP?

your cervix is good to go, so it could be the position that is holding htings back, with an OP or other slight malposition, the pressure on the cervix is just not quite enough

nipple stim to strengthen contractions might help

of course you will go into labour !! your body is already gearing up and things are changing

this is the time to connect with your body and baby. you need dark, quiet, candles and possibly a bath if you want one, or lay on the bed

undisturbed for 30 minutes minimum

clear your mind of negativity.

remind yourself this brings you a baby !

it's an amazing but not always straightforward process

your body is doing what it needs to

be positive

talk to your body , talk to your baby

envisage the cervix opening even more, stretching even more, blossoming open.. only have psoitive opening thoughts

find an image, one might just come into your mind, of something positive , and focus on that

when you feel yourself getting negative and glum, go back to that image

for me it was a pink flower opening. my science teacher friend laughed at me and then admitted she'd done the same !!

lovely opening stretchy thoughts

almost a self hypnosis

hope that helps a bit ! xxx

DarrellRivers · 28/03/2010 17:04

Thankyou for your lovely post
I shall retire in a bit for some quiet reflection
I was worried re the nipple stimulation thing that it might get things going but then stop like another false labour
I'll give it another go
DS was OP, I was wondering the same
Will let you know how it goes
Am starting to picture the flower

i hope things get started for you soon. rest as much s you can, i know it is hard with other DCs etc. but you need quiet space to reflect and to conserve energy x

FabIsGettingThere · 28/03/2010 17:07

I hope it helps for you DR.

My 3rd baby but second labour was half the time of the previous one and I pushed him out in 7 minutes. All are different

I am thinking labour thoughts for you too.

DarrellRivers · 28/03/2010 18:04

Have had a lovely quiet weekend, with lots of yellow from the daffodils and the forsythia finally being out in bloom
Am having the mild contractions again, but not really advancing, but rather than getting 'gggrggh' will think how lovely spring is instead.
And how nice it is to be relaxed rather than fatigued and drained (it is so difficult to plan to do anything in these last few weeks anyway)
Thanks to both of you, I think I am back in the relaxed zone again

How about planning a pamper evening?

Or book a manicure/pedicure for this week? Nothing like a treat planned to bring on labour so you miss it!

DarrellRivers · 28/03/2010 19:32

Yes, I like your thinking
Hmm, what shall I book?
What I really want is to buy lots of clothes

OP posts:
FabIsGettingThere · 28/03/2010 19:34

Buy some then .

Lulumaam · 28/03/2010 19:38

buy some shoes. or a handbag or one of those cath kidston changing bags. i really wanted one, but by the time i had discovered them, my two were at school

glad you are a bit more positive

you will have the baby , no-one , although it feels like it is pregnant for ever

think happy thoughts. honestly , it does help

DarrellRivers · 29/03/2010 11:50

Well, things settled over night, started up gently this morning but now more painful and closer together
Fingers crossed
Luckily my mum is here for the day, so she and the DCs have just headed off to town so I can see what happens.
Everytime I tell anyone, the contractions go away, so you are the first I'm telling, let's see if they disappear

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 29/03/2010 14:18

Now pretty intense contractions every 4-5 minutes and DH coming home from work
Don't think I will make the ANC consultant appointment at 4.30pm but half of me thinks, it might still stop

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 29/03/2010 15:58

Heading off I think soon
Thankyou lulu, staying positive last night made a difference I reckon

DarrellRivers · 29/03/2010 16:48

goodness, I couldn't make it to ante-natal clinic
And going up and down the stairs seems to really increase the intensity of the contractions to unbearable

OP posts:
DarrellRivers · 29/03/2010 16:48

Am going to keep as mobile as possible
And yes, chocolate is an essential breast feeding supplement

OP posts:
Lulumaam · 29/03/2010 17:04

that sounds good

when you are closing your eyes and going into yourself and needing to concetnrate and breathe through them,it is time to get thee to the hospital

when you acn no longer bear to MNet, it is also time!!

Lulumaam · 29/03/2010 20:26
