St Thomas' (Ldn) restrictions on VBACs - any ideas?

I've just had my consultant midwife appointment cancelled and have to wait for a new appointment. That's going to take ages!

In the meantime I have looked on Tommy's website but no mention of VBAC restrictions.

Any one know the restrictions? Thanks V much. Just trying to get information together to talk to dh about a VBAC or HBAC even.

Hi Zombieplan, I'm hoping for a VBAC at St Thomases in May. They like to do the following:

  • Continuous foetal monitoring
  • Canula
  • Straight in for monitoring if waters break (instead of 24hr wait and see)
  • Injection for 3rd stage

They like to have baby born by 42 weeks, so if overdue will want you to agree a date for caesarean with the consultant.

But... I told cons midwife that I don't want CFM and so they have signed me off to have VBAC in Home from Home provided I don't go overdue. So it is negotiable.

sorry for the delay in replying Mitfordsisters, thanks for the information. I have my consultant midwife appointment next week so will write down what I want before attending and see what I can negotiate!

Good luck with your VBAC.

Riven, well I'd like to go for a HBAC, in fact just going to have a search and see if I can find some info on persuading midwife to agree it. (Then will probably be lazy and start a thread called 'What did you say to get an HBAC?')

I know that you wouldn't suggest this after your experience but I live 5mins drive away from the hospital. Although I have yet to persuade dh so it probably won't happen anyway.
