Any VBAC'ers who have had water births?

Hi

being a bit of a water baby and having missed out the first time round I am really keen to get into the birthing pool.

Have been told it is a definite no, as I need to be on constant monitoring. Not keen on this either.

Any other experiences?

TIA

I was allowed to try for a wbac.

I basically refused continuous monitoring (they cannot do it if you say 'no'), and once I had there was no reason to keep me on dry land. I did a load of reading and decided I would be safe enough in a pool with a midwife there monitoring every 10-15 mins and then after each contraction in the second stage. In the event the baby became distressed (picked up by the hand held monitor) and I went and had an emcs, but that is nothing to do with the water.

The people to speak to are your consultant and the consultant midwife at the hospital. IME there is little point in discussing it with anyone else as they will have no authority to deviate from hospital policy.

Good luck, I hope you get what you want.

Thank you. Thought I would try but equally keen not to go in as a trouble maker. Want this birth to be a lot less stressful than the first.

Will try with my consultant.
