Finding a trainee Doula

I did look on the doula.org.uk website but there is no options about finding a trainee doula...
As money is a bit tight, i can't afford a doula.
How do I find one? I am in North London (Whittington hosp)

There is a hardship fund, so it would be worth contacting those in your area anyway. If you're upfront about the money situation with all of them then one of them should be able to come up with the goods. If nothing else, they may be able to recommend a trainee doula. Equally, you may get lucky and get one for free.

oh i have one! i could pass on her details if you wanted. she is based in south london though... might be willing to travel, or maybe she knows other trainee doulas.

she has been lovely for the run up to the birth, very thoughtful and committed, although you can tell she hasn't much experience, thats ok as the clues in the name 'trainee'!

definately helped alot when thinking about all the options and writing a birth plan, and visualising exactly how everything could go for me and my DH.

can't tell you what she'd be like during the birth, as i've just been told i have to have a c section, so not much for her to do now. she's probably cursing me as the most un-useful practice person ever!

anyway, a bit new to this mumsnet thing, so let me know how to give you her details if you want them without me posting them on here for all the world to see...

if you scroll down the list on www.doula.org.uk the ones with gold stars next to their names are recognised doulas and the ones below that near the bottom of the page are trainee doulas (no gold stars)

Hi Tostaky. Did you manage to find a Trainee Doula in the end? I'm based near Potters Bar/Barnet area and am a Trainee Doula. Just in case you're still looking!! I'm 40, with 3 kids of my own and have attended some births already (homebirth, hospital breech birth and caesarean). Kate
