Oh how insensitive of her doctor.

Rght - it has been a while since I was a mdwife but from my memory there is a difference between scar rupturing and full blown uterine rupture.

Scar openng occurs sometimes but rarely in women who have had previous uterine surgery. It's a well known risk and something all women who have had previous CS are watched for if they choose to have a vaginal birth. Often the baby is fine following an emergency CS.
True uterine rupture is extremely rare (cannot ever remember seeing a case) usually catastrophic and not on any scar line. Quite often the Mum ends up with massive blood loss, a baby who dies and an emergency hysterectomy.

Not sure when your DF had her last baby or how far on she was but am betting if it was at 38/39/40 weeks they will deliver her before that on this occasion.

There are some signs she should look out for (scar pain for example) where she will be instructed to seek advice, I bet she will be monitored very closely as well.

I think the doctor was very insensitive in his/her approach here. By all means point out the risks but don't get into blame - pregnancies happen sometimes despite all best planning and contraception.

thanks jolly for replying, she has very paper thin scars and they said uterine rupture at her appointment, she went to 38 weeks last ime and they are gonna deliver at 36 weeks, she is utterly devastated and cannot in heart bring herself to terminate. i rang the hospital yesterday to see if she can be seen by another consultant.
