having a cold and going through labour

i am starting to panic a tad, i'm not due until saturday but i am starting to get a cold! sore throat, stuffy nose and am thinking how badly timed it all is! what if i go into labour early and just feel rotten because i'm ill? worse still, if DH and DD get it, then it really will be rubbish. Think i am over-reacting a little but just annoyed with myself for catching a bug.

At least the list of what you can take for a sore throat gets a bit longer when you've had your baby!I had a sore throat and a cough when I had dd. Neither ds or dh caught it.Or maybe I just didn't notice. And dd didn't catch it either.

I gave birth with a cough and cold a few weeks ago and I can honestly say that when you are in labour you really won't notice the cold! My throat was worse afterwards due to the mooing but I didn't notice it at the time!

Poor you, not sure what to advise. I don't want to scare you, but my neighbour gave birth to a boy when she was ill with a bad cold and he caught it and got really bad bronchiolitis and subsequent bouts of asthma waking in the night, unable to breathe. He's nearly 3 but weighs as much as my 17 month old dd.

Speak to your doctor!

I think it's important that the doctor & midwives know so they can take special care of your baby.

Try resting and maybe a toddy with all ingredients bar alc to see you sweat it out. Good luck!
