TMI warning: bloody show/ mucus plug...and pre eclampsia!!???

I'm 39 weeks 6 days today and had bloody watery discharge this morning. I called NHS and they told me to come in immediately as I'm Strep B positive just in case it's water. They checked me with this horrible metal thing (where they insert it) and it really hurt. Midwife told me it's not water but probably a show but there is protein in my urine so they have to check for pre eclampsia. (I have appointment for scan and with doctor on Thursday morning to check for pre eclampsia.)
This afternoon I had brownish thick mucous come out and then everytime I wipe, it's kind of fresh blood mixed with stretchy clear mucous. My tummy is constantly tight though now...

I'm just really worried as I don't remember having this with my first one and everytime I see red blood they call me in and it's nothing. Anybody had similar experience and just had labor start soonish after this?? Or is this going to drag on...so fed up!!

Cypher - I had pre-eclampsia for about 5 weeks before the birth (protein in urine, headaches, high blood pressure etc) so they will probably just want to monitor you and if needed they may discuss induction. If you weren't as far gone they might medicate you if it is severe enough but because you are essentially at your due date I doubt they would.
Baby might nearly be on the way though, the afternoon before I went into labour in the evening I had what you are describing with the blood/mucus etc and also thought my waters had gone. Goodluck, hope all goes well.
