I can't decide how I want to give birth!

DS was an emergency cs after a failed forceps as he got badly stuck.

I've been given the option of an elective CS this time round and had pretty much decided I would go for it but i've been thinking more about the last one and I really don't want the long hospital stay(I don't sleep, I'm bored etc) or the long recovery and massively painful constipation i had last time.

the only thing is is that i have a suspected herniated disc (GP won't investigate properly until baby is born) and if my back goes when i am in labour i won't be able to move as any movement is sheer agony and i probably won't be able to push as my back problems effect my ability to have a bowel movement(tmi).

i see the consultant in about 2 months to tell them my descision but i just don't know

could i ask to have an epidural put in as soon as labour starts? i doubt i would get one done quickly if i ask halfway through.

if not could i request to be whisked off for cs if my back goes in labour?

i'm struggling to think of any other options! i don't see the mw for another 5 weeks to discuss it with her. i know G&A won't help as i had back problems with ds and he was back to back and my back was more painful than the conractions.

anyone have anymore ideas?

my back goes every couple of months or so. I have no idea of the likelyhood of it going in labour, its lower back so contractions might irritate the disc and trigger my muscles into spasm to protect it, and then i'm buggered if i don't already have an epidural in or can't get one quickly.

i don't think it will affect the option of epidural as it is low down my back and they put the spinal in fine for my emcs.

it's not just recovery that is putting me off an elec cs, it's the 3/4 days in hospital, i almost went insane last time and discharged myself early and i felt sooo shit as i didn't sleep a wink for 3 nights, can't face that again.

i'm going to have wait until i see the mw, or book to see gp again. i can't find any info online about labour and herniated discs and i dont want to leave it until i see the consultant and have to make a rushed descision.
