I lost my waters on a monday night with DS1 and i got given the gel once on the wednesday - that gave me some contractions but they went away as i fell asleep.
On thursday morning i was giving the drip (syntocin i think) and labour progressed well until all hell broke loose and had to be rushed for emcs.

Attempting vbac in a few weeks for DS2 and i am wondering if my body will know better this time around?
Any experience?

thanks

1st labour induced within 24 hours of PROM, syntocin drip. 2nd labour - contractions started within 5 days of PROM but stopped again, induced with pessaries 3rd labour made it to nearly term and contractions started within 4 or 5 hours of waters breaking.

Remember your waters might not even break first in subsequent labours, this has happened to a couple of people I know whose waters went first in their first labour.

I hope things go well for you, am I right in thinking they won't do the synto for a VBAC?

dc1 induced with a drip 30 hours after waters broke at 37+4

dc2 waters broke at 41+0 went to hospital to be assessed. Contractions started while hooked up to the maschine. MW told me to go home and come back later. I refused, was examined again. 6 cm. dd born 4 hours later with only g+a.

Hi there. With DS1 my waters broke so went to hospital. Didn't have any contractions so was induced, had contractions for a while (can't remember how long) then all hell broke lose for me too & DS1 was born by emergency c-section.

DS2 was born on his exact due date by VBAC. I picked MIL up from the airport in the afternoon, feeling a bit funny, by 7pm I was getting small contractions then by 10pm they were really starting to kick in so we went to hospital. My waters didn't break until DS2's head crowned just before 8am, few big pushes and out he popped completely naturally. It was the most wonderful thing I have ever experienced

Thanks ... so there's hope for me then!

I was about to post a similar thread, 36 weeks with DD2 today. With DD1 waters broke at 5am sunday morning, had synto from 9am on Monday morning.

Would rather avoid all this again, hated being so hooked up (synto, antibiotics and trace) so wasn't as mobile as I'd have liked to have been.

Baby is engaged slightly and I've had a few twinges so thinking might not make EDD but then again I'll probably go at 41 weeks again!

With my DS waters broke in the early morning and I had no contractions. I was induced in the late afternoon, as they were worried about infection (it was in the US, they were obviously overreacting).
DD- contractions started early in the morning, got progressively stronger during the day, went to the hospital after 7 pm, waters had to be broken by the midwife and DD was born at 11.35 pm.
Both were at term.
So, I wouldn't lose hope.

tostaky there is hope for you! My dc1 sounds a bit like yours, but dc2 was almost born in the hospital car park. dc1 had been back labour so I thought I wasn't really in labour, when I rang the hospital to find out if the pool was available the mw told me to get in quick as she thought i was having very strong contractions.By the time we got into the labour ward she said 'do you want to touch your baby's head' and got me to take it as slowly as poss. dd was born 15 mins later.
